Batman mesh?

Post by dingo2020 »

Is the B.A.T.M.A.N. mesh applicable to DietPi? (It works on rpi 0W, rpi3b+ and rpi4 with Raspbian Lite)

Hi,

many thanks for your request. As far as I can see, installation could be done via apt install. Means it should be possible on DietPi. However, configuration would need to be done on /etc/network/interfaces, which might be conflicting if you use dietpi-config to manage your network adapter. There will be a possibility that dietpi-config will not detect your new settings or being able to apply changes to this file correctly anymore as it depends on a fixed content... Rework is in pipeline to allow a flexible per-interface configuration. But nothing to come on short notice.

What is already possible now, is to apply custom changes via new files in /etc/network/interfaces.d/your_conf to have them independent from any changes to the main files. That might be an option to get Batman mesh configured. But something to be evaluated.
Pls let us know if a solution is working. This could help others if they hit by similar situation. Your DietPi Team
