Never saw that command for adduser

Usually just an adduser to create a user is needed first I believe

I have seen this one for sudoer

I use an app on my android phone called ESfile explorer that will allow me to see the network shares

I do believe it supports SCP as well

what is the read/write speed thru the USB port to the drive?

also...install and get familiar with screen which allows you to log into a terminal, then detach it and the command that was run will NOT stop.
It also allows you to re-attach at a later time

Is your external drive externally powered?
