USB Drive Death

Post by jram »

Hi there,

Been using a USB drive as the host for dietpi_userdata for many months now and it works great. However, my USB drive showed signs of sickness - running hot and some errors - so I decided it was time to replace. As it would, it failed as I made the decision but I was able to get the dietpi_userdat off and onto a PC even although the pi would no longer read it.

My problem is this: I tried to use Launcher to launch the Disk manager but it just hangs - presumably because the bad drive is not mounted. So I can't transition the system to use another drive. I've looked at manually changing things around but am unable to delete the old USB drive directory in /mnt.

In short, are you able to guide me as to a suitable migration process please?

Comment out the reference to the old drive in /etc/fstab then reboot and use dietpi drive manager to install the new drive.

Thank you John, I tried this but was unable to solve the problem with it hanging - so I started with a fresh install... See other thread :/
