No way to remove boot messages, boot logo and add a custom splash screen in DietPie? Yes there is but it's more difficult in Dietpi due to all the hooks it uses in the boot sequence. Gave this another go on a fresh install http://www.recantha.co.uk/blog/?p=799 Now it works sort of at boot the system messages pass by then the splash shows up for a short time and back to system messages again. What I remember form doing this years ago on Gentoo was building a kernel ramdisk images...

Does anyone know of a way to setup a boot splash? I've tried using fbi and service scripts but my image never displays. I'd like to display a static image, much like OSMC or RetroPie. Thanks for looking in to this issue,

I found a .update_available in the /boot/dietpi folder once I deleted it the issue was solved.

I'm seeing the same issue and I'm using V158. I can tell you this is only comes up when I have no internet connection or if I'm booting and the network isn't up yet. Looking at the source code I found something in the dietpi-banner script that looks for a file call .update_available but I don't have...
