No such file or directory @ login

Post by RedRaymann »

I've got 3 RPi's with DietPi. After a long period without problems, it appers that all my Pi's are stopping of gettting more and more problems.

The first one can't update (See my other post)
The second one is up-to-date. But yesterday I did an update/upgrade.
Apt-get update, and within seconds its done.
Apt-get upgrade, it takes 5 / 10 minutes.
There are a lof lines with "rpikernelhack"
After the upgrade, it looks like everything is working.

Till I reboot. After I log in, the next message is displayed

Code: Select all

login as: root
root@192.168.1.108's password:

The programs included with the Debian GNU/Linux system are free software;
the exact distribution terms for each program are described in the

-bash: /DietPi/dietpi/func/dietpi-globals: No such file or directory
-bash: /DietPi/dietpi/login: No such file or directory
grep: /DietPi/dietpi.txt: No such file or directory
root@KodiPi:~#
I have a back-up, made it a couple of days ago.

Flashed the back-up

DietPi is up to date, update/upgrade and same problem. Tried it 3x and got the same problem 3x...

I've used duckduck to search for a solution, but did not find anything...

I'm afraid to update again... Can somebody help me? Is there a solution or did i something wrong?

As of your last info now everything looks fine? DietPi on newest version and as the login screen shows up there is no error message as of your OT?
Or is this the case right after the update and error appears then after reboot?
In this case please try after the update before rebooting:
/DietPi/dietpi/dietpi-ramdisk 1
> /DietPi/.ramdisk

A bid strange is that this is already included in v6.21 update :?.

About the segmentation fault you show in the other thread. I saw this error once myself and once in the forum. I also can't remember if I was actually able to fix or reflashed the image. I guess it is due to SDcard corruption. No guarantee it will work (depends on the degree of corruption) but at least it's worth trying to plug the SDcard into an external system an run fsck on it there.

Were these moreless fresh installs? In case please reflash the new RPi images I uploaded some days ago.

My second post is all the data before the apt-get upgrade. The RPi was already on the latest Dietpi version.
After the apt-get update all is looking fine, but after the reboot, the message "No such file or directory" is displayed.

The last thing I did was the apt-get update and i'm afraid to do apt-get upgrade. Because every time after the upgrate the Rpi stops after a reboot.

I'm running this RPi now for a couple of months. I think I did a clean install the first week of December. Since than i did all the updates with the Dietpi-update command.

Now I'm making a complete back-up so I can try your command after a recent back-up :-)

@Segmentation fault. I will try your tip, otherwise I will start over with a new SD card and a fresh install.

I don't think I understand what to do :-) or there is something wrong with me or my Rpi :-)

Code: Select all

root@KodiPi:~# /DietPi/dietpi/dietpi-ramdisk 1
-bash: /DietPi/dietpi/dietpi-ramdisk: No such file or directory
root@KodiPi:~# /DietPi/.ramdisk
-bash: /DietPi/.ramdisk: Permission denied
root@KodiPi:~#
In dietpi-software "Log System: [DietPi-Ramlog #1]" is selected. If you mean that...

@RedRaymann
Ah sorry the command was pointing to the wrong path:
/DietPi/dietpi/func/dietpi-ramdisk 1
> /DietPi/.ramdisk

- Note the > the second line starts with, which is missing in your paste.

But:
dietpi-update includes apt-get upgrade. So to keep things separate for debugging please indeed do apt-get upgrade first. At best copy&paste here the full APT output, so we can see which system critical package has been updated. And only if reboot then still works fine, go on with dietpi-update.

When you face the "file not found" errors on login, please paste:
cat /var/tmp/dietpi/logs/dietpi-ramdisk.log
