Why Is The USB Drive Choice Final?

Post by opticyclic »

On first boot the config screen makes me choose whether I want to use a USB drive or not and says that this choice is final.
Why is this final?
Is this just referring to where the root directory will be installed or is it preventing me from adding USB storage later for things like Pydio/Owncloud?

Either way, the text could do with changing to clarify exactly what it means.

Hi,

We are looking at adding the ability to setup a dedicated USB drive at anytime: https://github.com/Fourdee/DietPi/issues/377

/root stays on the SDcard. But DietPi will configure most programs you install to use the USB drive for data storage.

Some examples are:
- Owncloud/Pydio storage
- Bittorrent Downloads
- Fileserver default location
- Music and Video folders for storing your media

We will also improve the documentation to explain what the dedicated USB drive will do.
If you find our project or support useful, then we’d really appreciate it if you’d consider contributing to the project however you can.
Donating is the easiest – you can use PayPal or become a DietPi patron.
