Shares on my Odroid HC1

Is there a piece of software in "optimized software"to controle shares on my mounted HDD ?
because i have no HDMI ia m stuck with terminal commands otherwise

Pls can you describe what you trying to achieve? What exactly you like to control?

I hoped for a piece of Software to choose from so that making shares, users, SMB on my mounted HHD becomes easier
if not i am obligated to use terminal commands
I tried OMV and although this interface is user friendly Docker and portainer is not
my ultimate goal is to run Plex media server whose shared folders I want to access through win 10

So if I understood correctly, you like to manage Samba shares via a web interface? Correct?

Maybe you can have a look to Webmin. It should have a Samba plugin as well

much appriciated, i give it a try

got quite far, mounted the harddisk which I can also find under windows
Only I can’t get into the shared folders, no permissions
root does not work and neither does a new user

can you have a look to /etc/samba/smb.conf what user is assigned to the share?

syslog = 0
pam password change = yes
workgroup = ENTERPRISE
public = yes
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
dns proxy = no
writeable = yes
syslog only = no
server string = %h server
printcap name = /dev/null
obey pam restrictions = yes
max log size = 1000
os level = 20
map to guest = bad user
load printers = no
panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
passwd chat = Enter\snew\s\spassword:* %n\n Retype\snew\s\spassword:* %n\n password\supdated\ssuccessfully .
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
disable spoolss = yes
security = user
passdb backend = tdbsam

valid users = perco,root
guest account = root
path = /mnt/MyHDD/Films
comment = Shared

I guess the user you like to use is perco

I quickly installed Webmin on a Demo VM and was able to create a new share, which I could access from my Win10 machine.

Did you checked the SAMBA User section on Webmin? Pls have a look to Samba User and check if perco is listed there. If not, return to previous page and go to Convert Users. There you should check first option Only listed users or UID ranges. Select your user perco and set a password. This is needed because Samba users are different from OS user. Once converted, you should be able to access the share. At least that’s how it was working for me.

Side note: I uses DietPi optimised Samba Server installed via dietpi-software

some screens user related
sorry for the last one, its in Dutch

change the password for the samba edit
i did it at convert

so i’m inside but no authorization yet
can’t drag files or create folders yet (win10)

For it’s working. I can create new directories. Did you checked if the share is set writable ? For me it looks like the attached

i can’t change Guest Access

whats the different between global and films, maybe there is my problem

Maybe you can try to create new share and guest access to NO?

started from scratch…

In the previous dietpi installation I mounted the HDD from the dietpi Drive manager, this does not work well if you then use Webmin as a configurator
I now have a better result with guest access on yes.
Assigning a user for windos (samba) is the most problematic for now

What is the issue? For me it was quite easy to setup the share and assign the user.

I am lost, no rights at all and I still have access

Try to restart your system and check again

what one should not forget when testing is that you have to clear the windows user accounts credentials and restart the samba server with every change.
