PLEX Meta Data. Is it really im my new Dietpi_userdata Folder? (external USB Storage)

So I added a 1TB HDD to my dietpi server, formatted it as ext4 and mounted it.

then I went into the new added drive and clicked to use this drive for the diet_userdata

the move seemed to work, since my internal storage went up 2.6GB (from 6GB to 8,7GB).

after that configuration (!!!) I installed via the software options Plex Media server and started to add my Movie and TV library. it said before installing, that the user data location is “custom” and pointed to my external 1TB Data:

during initial scan a lot of meta data is downloaded via PLEX. and my guess was, that all this meta data will be downloaded to the new dietpi_userdata location and does not fill up my limited internal storage.

Unfortunately my internal storage went down another 1.6GB so it seems the plex meta data is still been loaded on the internal storage, rather than the external 1TB Storage which I said is the new dietpi_userdata?

I went into my new User_data Folder on the External 1TB Drive and did not found any “Plex” folder.

  1. how can I see where plex put my Meta Data?
  2. and if its on the internal storage. how can I tell it to move the metadata to the user_data folder on the new 1 TB External drive

I guess an option within Plex. Did you checked your library configuration? Where does it point to? Media Systems Software Options - DietPi.com Docs

You mean my media library?

The movie and tv folders are on other external USB Storages. See first screenshot.

If i misunderstood, could you try to rephrase?

I guess somewhere in Plex, there is a setting where you can specify media library.

ok I researched a little bit more. Plex Meta Data is not in the dietpi_userdata. its in:

/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/

What I need to do know is the following:

wish me good luck

Ok I have actually issues doing the steps in this tutorial.

Is this with dietpi doable?

I already fail with the first step. Doing the command sudo sh.

Nothing happens when i type it

The command should not be needed. You should be able to start with creating the service configuration.
