Hello devs. I’ve been using DietPi OS for 3 years in a row on my RPi 0 to RPi 5 plus a couple of other boards like Librelec, and Orange Pi. All my SBCs run only and only DietPi.
For a past couple of days, I am experimenting with various Music Server software available on the dietpi-software list. I just want the DietPi devs to please ensure the Software Options List here is timely updated. As I have come across several programmes that are listed in the documentation list but not available in the dietpi-software list or vice-versa.
Ok, but where’s the documentation for MPD and many other apps. I’ve mentioned the lack of documentations here..
On my RPi 4 I found some mismatch in the following apps related docs.
Roon Server.
Spotifyd.
MPD.
In these aforementioned apps some aren’t available in the dietpi-software list and some don’t have documentation.
It’s under media systems, you checked the wrong category. There is also a search function on top of the page.
For almost every app there is a link to the apps official docs, where you can check architecture compatibility.
@homie: You are right that MPD has no own documentation section. I.e., it is selectable in dietpi-software but does not appear in the DietPi docs software description.
That we could fix/extend.
Are there other software packages which are not present in the software list you mentioned?
If I want to find a software package, I go to the software list and search with <ctrl>-<f> (using the browser internal search option instead of the DietPi docs search option).
Reason for MPD is that it is a backend for myMPD, O!MPD etc, so commonly not installed on its own. But still makes sense to add it, at least to mention how we configure it by default (“default” ALSA PCM) and that it can be further configured with dietpi-justboom (dietpi-config submenu), cross-linking CAVA console visualizer etc.
We could also add platform compatibility/availability to the docs, but I fear the additional maintenance efforts this causes. First we should implement some central information system, from where website, docs and probably even DietPi scripts grab such meta info. If someone has time and mood to work on such .
