Install SSD RaspberryPi5

Hello everyone, I have ordered a new argon case that it comes with to put an SSD in and also a 512GB Evo 980 SSD.

I have various doubts
My idea is to use an adapter to connect the SSD to Windows USB and install the dietpi image from 0.

then put the ssd in the argon box.

What else should I do to boot from the SSD? Is there a way to do all this better?

You may need to change the boot order first before attempting to boot from PCIe https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/raspberry-pi-5.html#booting-from-pcie

How could I clone a pendrive with DietPi to the SSD using the Raspberry Pi itself?

Is the /boot/firmware/config.txt file from the dietpi installation itself?
changing the eeprom order is a permanent adjustment

Yes, there is just a single config.txt on the system.

Yes, you would need to run rpi-eeprom-config again to perform further changes.

The new argon box I bought does not have access to the SD of the pi5, only the SSD

If I connect the SSD to the PC, I copy a clean image of DietPi for Pi5 on this SSD, I modify the config.txt in Windows with the parameters to activate PCI Express and enable Gen3 when connecting it like this in the Argon box I will not be able to access the terminal to modify rpi-eeprom-config

maybe it is booting from pen stick ootb. Just give it a try.

@Joulinar
ahhhh okay, I can prepare a USB flash drive with dietpi and adjust the eeprom and then I remove the flash drive, I don’t need the SD for anything anymore.

Another tough one, sorry I have so many doubts but I’m learning hehehe
To test the RAM of the pi5, use memtester, yes, but what command would be the correct one to test 8GB
