Installed homeassistant for the first time and used a password manager to generate a password for new user. The PM failed to record it!!! so next time I try and log in I have no password. Anyone know how I can change the password from within dietpi? I searched the web but can’t find an answer that fits my case. I tried an uninstall and reinstall but dietpi appears to remember and brings me back to login page instead of clean install.
This can be used as starting point I'm locked out! - Home Assistant
You need to activate HA pyenv as describe on our online docs Home Automation Software Options - DietPi.com Docs
And to reset password
hass --script auth change_password <user> <new_password>
Thanks for the help, but I don’t understand what the following means or what I need to enter as module?
pip3 install # Or whichever install/update you need to do
This is not needed, it was just the example on how to enable pyenv for ha
Tried this says password changed but when I try and log back into home assistant it still says invalid user or username. How do I uninstall from dietpi and start again with a clean install that won’t come up with the same log in credentials?
Should be possible to install using dietpi-software
. This should remove all directories. You can do a reboot and try to install again
Thanks for your reply. I unisnstalled Homeassistant from dietpi , rebooted and re-installed and am back to the same login page!!! No way to login if I’ve forgotten the password, somehow dietpi does not fully uninstall and he login details persist but can’t be removed. I’m beaten on this.
After uninstall check if all directories for HA has been removed under /mnt/dietpi_userdata
Thank you that fixed it for me. There was still homeassistant folder left in userdata.
