Desktop on Parallels

Hi guys
First post, so please bear with me…
I’ve downloaded the Parallels virtual machine image and it runs with no problem. However, no matter which desktop environment I install, I cannot get them to load. Each time I get a “no screens found” message. The same happens when I try and launch a QT app… “Cannot connect to display”. It’s like DietPi (or XServer or whatever - I’m no expert) doesn’t recognise the virtual display of Parallels.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Nick

Did you installed a desktop software from our software catalog? And how do you start the desktop?

Hi… thanks for replying. I installed them from dietpi-launcher and then the software catalog. I have been starting the desktop with “startx”. I only have the problem on Parallels. No problem at all on an old laptop as a native PC install.

@HolgerTB you still use parallels?

I needed to test something very quickly and just happened to have a Mac with Parallels on it. But no, not usually.

Ha, sorry I just noticed you were asking @HolgerTB

Could it be an option to use VirtualBox or UTM for your task?
It is also available for MacOS and free of cost (although, when I worked with these programs on a Mac, Parallels seemed to be the best option).

At least at UTM I had a running X11 GUI which I used for the docs: How to install DietPi - DietPi.com Docs
I am not aware, whether there were obstacles when I installed an X11 GUI in a Parallels: How to install DietPi - DietPi.com Docs

Yes. I am still using parallels. I will do a test and reply soon my results
