What steps should I follow to make it detectable on a windows pc?
As a work around, I format a usb drive as ntfs using windows, but I rather not do that.

I’ve just tested it on my RPI5 and it works perfectly. I can format a USB stick using the drive manager. If I create a text file and then connect the stick to a Windows computer, the file is readable.
Why wouldn’t that work?
Interesting… I’ll have to try it again and see if it works. I often go to my neighbors house to print stuff out and last time I formatted a USB stick using dietpi, it would not show up on her windows pc.
It does, but I would prefer to do it on linux.
it doesn’t matter for the file system on your usb drive
