Updating to python 3.8+

The python version shipped by dietpi-software is python 3.7… I would like to have python 3.8 or above however…

Is this possible? I am running dietpi on my rpi 3b+

Hi,

DietPi will install Debian apt package python3-dev from official Debian repository. Latest version is 3.7 https://packages.debian.org/buster/python3-dev

I guess you would need to compile it yourself to get a higher version. Maybe this guide could help https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-install-python-3-8-on-debian-10/

Thanks for your reply! Yeah I had to go down the route of compiling it myself… I will let this be there for anyone else.
