Updating the old version of Home Assistant

As the Python version installed with Home Assistant has been updated on the latest version of DietPi, I thought to update Home Assistant completely, as the current version is quite old 2022.11.5.

What would be the right way to do it, as I wouldn’t want to lose dashboards, cards, connected devices etc.? On this version of HA, it’s possible to create a backup of a system, but there’s no restore. So would

dietpi-software reinstall 157

do a complete wipe and I would have to start from zero or there’s some better way?

Nope all data should be kept. However it is recommended to do a dietpi-backup beforehand.

Btw: we don’t update HA python version automatically, it would require a HA reinstall

Thanks! If I got you correctly, the command from the previous post is there right way to go?

Otherwise, it would only require to do /home/homeassistant/homeassistant-update.sh?

dietpi-backup would backup a complete system right? I never did it before doing dietpi-update, as I like to live dangerously.

Yes you can use the reinstall command

Yes whole system will be backup.

This is fully up to you
