Testing Dietpi on Radxa Cubie A5E

Hello, I’ve recent get a Cubie A5E on hand and of course, I get the dietpi for it!

So far, HDMI output is not working, but other than that, the ethernet, wifi and nvme seems to working smooth for me.

Regarding performance, it is around ~6 second in dietpi benchmark, which resemble the performance of RK3399, which I think is quite decent.

For the temperature, the CPU governor are not working either. Hope it would be resolved together with HDMI output in the new release.

I wouldn’t expect too much. DietPi is not able to support every imaginable board and provide all possible drivers.

oh, i mean the release of new kernel, not dietpi itself. Dietpi is doing good for me! i almost replaced all my linux environment with dietpi, including a EPYC machine

I doubt there will be a new kernel as you are running generic device now. Kernel depends on the device used. There no generic kernel for all systems.

Please share the image, I also own this board.

oh, the kernel was indeed the BSP one and it is getting updated. I will redo the image one I’ve got a better kernel i think

do you have some net storage which could hold the image?

or I should directly pass the image to you?

I have local storage and the same Google Drive

so share the image?

Last board i have used Pi 4 with DietPi. It was an amazing experience. I bought Cubie A5E but sadly there is no official DietPi OS for this. What OS are you using now? I don’t need GUI so i am looking for an optimized headless OS.

Sorry for keep you waiting.

I’ve been busying with my work so just saw your message.

I will try to set up a link for you to download the image tonight on my NAS for the image.

Beware, it is not yet very complete and prone to be buggy.

Radxa had recently released their T6 image with vendor kernel.

I would remake the image to see if it resolved some of the problem.

if you looks for a headless solution, this image might be good for you.

However, I’ve recently discovered that it do not come with CIFS module in kernel….. so it cannot connect other PC through SMB.

For other usage, you may try the image.

The image is appended below.

I cannot guarantee it works for you indeed

Are you planning to update and develop this build image?
