Hello i want one program called subtitle edit on windows to work . It should work with mono or something. Is it possible to get it to work. I have seen subtitle composer for linux and it seems good but not close to subtitle edit. If it is possible can anyone help explain how to install and run it.
Hello Tripo.
Yes, you need mono. It’s an open-source “replacement” for the .NET framework, which is not available on Linux.
They have also a little tutorial on their website:
https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/help#linux
But they only talk about Ubuntu, Fedora and Arch. So I would try the dependencies mentioned for Ubuntu.
After installing everythign you can do:
After unpacking SE and installing the packages, you can start it with:
start SE by running “mono SubtitleEdit.exe” in a terminal
