RPI2 Model B V1.1 no automatic start of LXDE

Hello,
I want to automatically start Firefox with a custom address.

For this I have installed with Dietpi software > 23 LXDE ultra lightweight desktop < included Firefox.
The Raspi features a Wi-Fi stick and an original touchscreen from the Raspberry Foundation.

Raspi drives up to the login window
manually logged in with root and password
Manually started with > startx < LXDE
Manual Firefox started with a custom address

Everything works manually without problems.

This configuration is backed up with an SD card backup.
I always have a defined starting situation.

How can I automate the above steps?

I got with Dietpi - Autostart
16 LightDM login mask
2 Automatic login
installed.

After a restart of the Raspi, it drives up, then there is only a dark screen.
There is no error message and no way to get to the console.
It only helps draw plugs.

What am I doing wrong?
Does anyone have any hints?
Thank you.

Hm did you try to open another TTY?
Or can you connect via SSH to have a look at some logs?

Hello, Jappe, thank you for your interest.

If I install 16 (LightDM) and 2 (Automatic login),
or only one of the two for autostart ?

I’ll try a ssh connection.

thank you

You can select just one at the time and not both, as selecting the 2nd option will overwrite the 1st.

Yes, just use option 2, it will log you into the desktop environment you’ve installed.

Hello Joulinar, Jappe

Thanks for the quick answer.

Then I play back my SD card backup and install only > 2 Automatic login < .
Thank you

Option 2 is nothing you can install. Its an auto start option only. You would need to install a desktop beforehand.

Hello Joulinar, Jappe

I know that.

This backup brings me to the point where I can decide
I now install program option 16 or 2 or both.

I have therefore installed option 2 on this point.
But this time I did not select > user <, I selected > root <.

And now it worked. The root or user selection is crucial.

Nice that it worked now for you.
But for clarification: You can not choose both options, only the last one you chose is active.
You can either log automatically into the desktop environment or into the console, but not both.
One excludes the other.

okay.

Wish Joulinar, Jappe and the Dietpi Team beautiful holidays and a healthy new year.
