Roon end-point on DietPi with AUDIOPHONICS I-Sabre V3 DAC

Hello,

I considering to put together RAAT end-point for Roon, build on Raspberry 3 with DietPi.

Would appreciate your knowledge, if:

  1. AUDIOPHONICS I-Sabre V3 DAC is supported on DietPi itself, or I need to download put on DietPi some driver. If so, where to get it?

http://www.audiophonics.fr/en/diy-dac/audiophonics-i-sabre-dac-es9023-v2-tcxo-raspberry-pi-20-a-b-i2s-p-10657.html

Also I read following opinion: “Audiophonics is using the basic ‘hifiberry-dac’ overlay to get things started, my guess is you won’t have any problems here (just select the HifiBerry DAC in DietPi)” - is that true?

  1. I don’t plan to connect and use the screen, but AUDIOPHONICS I-Sabre V3 DAC power management functionality is good. Again is supported on DietPi itself, or I need some driver or write some script. If so, where to get it and what script?

Hi Janis,

Yep, its available from dietpi-config > audio options > soundcard

I don’t plan to connect and use the screen, but AUDIOPHONICS I-Sabre V3 DAC power management functionality is good. Again is supported on DietPi itself, or I need some driver or write some script. If so, where to get it and what script?

If the AUDIOPHONICS I-Sabre V3 DAC power management is hardware based, should be fine. When audio is not being sent through the card, it should be using less power anyway, but you’d need to use a USB power meter to test it (these are awesome fun btw):

You can reduce power usage further in DietPi-Config by setting:

  • dietpi-config > display options > resolution | Set headless
  • If CPU performance is not needed dietpi-config > performance options > CPU governor | Set Powersaving

Thank you Fourdee!

And if I would like to activate power management button connected to Audiophonics DAC - how to do it & where is script/ application?

The same about screen if I would like to use it/ program it - how to do it & where is script/ application?

Is it available form Audiophonics or I need to search somewhere in web?

Janis

Hi Janis,

No idea, sorry. Don’t have access to this device so cant test. Either a google search or contact AudioPhonics is your best bet.
