Just found this…an install that has self contained dashboard and many many apps built in for docker
Been testing it and it runs like a boss on my RPI 4 w/ 8GB RAM
This is currently what I have setup and running…
The data is stored in /DATA on the root partition

I guess this would break a lot of housekeeping tasks that dietpi already does, for example drive mounting.

As far as I know, Casa is based on Docker. Yes, we offer Docker itself as a tool/platform, but we do not plan to offer Docker containers.

If we install CasaOS on DietPi according to the setup instructions, would it cause any conflicts? DietPi has been offering very effective performance for a long time, but some of the applications offered by Casa have caught my interest, and they aren’t available on DietPiOS.
curl -fsSL https://get.casaos.io | sudo bash
Casa does no magic. It simply starts a Docker container. It will not install any application natively. Theoretically, you could install all these applications yourself with Docker.

well everything could be installed on DietPi manually as on every other Debian bases system. There is no need to use our software catalogue
which one?
I just did a test and it works without any problems. Casa itself appears to be a set of executables. However, any apps that are installed through Casa will be a Docker container.
This is my test Casa
And these are all Docker containers

I greatly appreciate your response. Thank you for taking the time. I’m running Discourse software on my RPI server with Docker, and I have Ghost CMS running through Portainer. I was concerned that this might create a conflict. Apart from this, I use some software from the DietPi Software list, such as Nextcloud.
There is a guy on YT that showed how to run CasaOS in cunjuction with other distro’s…and set them up to where they would not conflict with each other
Go check out Hardware Haven and Techno Dad Life…there are others…but these two have been pretty solid on fiddling with CasaOS on “the norm”
CasaOS is just a scripting overlay that runs on top of another “bare metal” linux distro…same as DietPi…trick is to not have them stomp all over each others ports when setting up the services
Ideally, what is the advantage offered by Casa over DietPi? Apart from the GUI, I mean a docker-compose would get the job done neatly and in a single execution.

Docker compose and/or portainer
six one half dozen or the other…I guess it’s the pretty gui’s people like…or the easy scripting…or both
