Additional Information

Today I got a message in Nextcloud to update to ver 32. I started this by using the updater in Nextcloud gui. Everything went well untill I had to press the button for browser update.
Now the misery takes over the system.The update process endet without warnings or other messages and from this moment the nextcloud wasn´t accessible until now.
The Desktop client says Nextcloud is offline, when I try to start Nextcloud in my browser, I get the message “This page isn´t working at the moment….. HTTP ERROR 500.

Even after several reboots of the PI Nextcloud won´t work. Neither if I try to access it locally nor via its Dyndns webaddress.

I´ve already ckecked the maintenance flag in config.php which says maintenance=false
I´v also checked that all data ist still present on disk(nvme) as well as the backup data on a secondary usb sata drive.

Just Nextcloud won´t work at the moment.

Do You have any hint how to get my Nextcloud back working?

Hello,
first it would be good to know what failed, you can have a look here:

grep 2025-11 /mnt/dietpi_userdata/nextcloud_data/updater.log

If it was already december when you tried the update, change the command to 2025-12.

What webserver do you use? There are probably also some hints about the HTTP 500 in its logs.

I don’t think so, they appear several minutes after the update, maybe some NC app updates.
For me it looks like the update process was successful.

Do you have only nextcloud running? If not, are other web apps also affected?
And you can check the apache logs:

On this PI Nextcloud is the main application and its dedicated just for all processes Nextcloud is depending on

No, PHP 8.2 is fine for NC 32, 8.1 is still supported but deprected tho

Hmm there were some bugs with the group folders app when NC32 was released, but they have been fixed and it works happily with NC32 and PHP 8.4 on the NC instance we use DietPi-internally. Ah yeah this was with v20 of the app, weird that you are on v19 which is probably incompatible expectedly.

An app name change? I did not recognize, will have a closer look when back home.

Csn you check the updater.log again whether you see an update attempt for the groupfolders app? This should be done automatically as part of the Nextcloud update, but obviously it was not done, or failed without causing an updater error, at least.

I must apologize; with all the problems with Nextcloud, I forgot to mention that I manually updated the team folders before running the two Nextcloud updates with the updater on November 30.

After the teamfolders update and the following update to nextcloud 31.0.11.2 everything worked well.

I can´t find any hint to a automatically Teamsfolder update. So I think the manually one, I made was the only one this day.

Ah okay. I checked back and while the visual app name changed from Group Folders to Team Folders, the app ID and hence app directory remained the same. The same happened to Circels renamed to Teams and Spreed renamed to Talk, but this has no effect on the update. So no idea what went wrong initially.

Thank you very much for your efforts in trying to help me. I think the best thing to do will be to set up a new Nextcloud and fill it with my backup, which I fortunately have stored locally.

With all Your hints I´ve learned al lot on Linux and Nextcloud.

Ah sorry, I thought your manual app update solved it.

I recognized an older issue at the app’s repo wa reopened and a new version was released. Maybe that fixed the issue.
