During the setup the PiVPN interactive says i do not have a static ip despite my network setup being static. It skips by that as if i’m on an AWS EC2, with a comment that it thinks i’m not on a raspbery pi.

What device you are running now?

I did a test install on my RPi4B without issues. I got some information about STATIC IP and not being on a RPI device but the installation continues without issue.

Need to say, at this stage, it’s not a DietPi script, it’s the official PiVPN installer involved. Whatever happen on this is a little bit out of our control.

sorry i think i said that in a really unclear way. i am on the RP4 device only. i was reffering to the screen in the install where it refers to ‘if you are in amazon’.
here are the screenshots of inside the pivpn install. it hangs after the last screenshot on the console like in my original post. I think I’ve run through this with the same result about 5 times now troubleshooting.

yes, it’s just an information for user who are in AWS. It doesn’t mean you are. Anyway this has nothing to do with your issue. Somehow the PiVPN install scrip is hanging on your system while it continues without issues on my test system. Maybe you can report to PiVPN guys. As said, we don’t create or maintain the PiVPN installer.

After some additional research it looks like I’m running into this bug in the PiVPN project -[BUG] Install script hangs generating subnet when physical interface range is 10.0.0.0/8 · Issue #1518 · pivpn/pivpn · GitHub

ok in this case, solution would need to be provided by PiVPN guys.
