Hi
Is there a way to have only select apps going through the VPN on a DietPi machine? (I think this feature might be called split tunneling, but I’m not sure).
I currently use qBittorrent on an RPi3B with DietPi, with DietPi-VPN running an ovpn connection to Surfshark. It is running fine, but I have recently moved to full fibre @ 500Mbps and the RPi3 cannot keep up (as it only has 100Mbps Ethernet and also slow SD).
I do also have an RPi4 with DietPi, which could keep up better, but I am using it as a media server and I don’t want the other apps going through the VPN connection.
Many thanks.
Basically unrelated to DietPi as it should be working similarly on other Linux based systems. Theoretically this can be done using iptables
rules. We had similar questions a couple of time already. Have a look into the forum.
I did have a look before posting, but found nothing (that I could understand). Thanks for confirming.
The Surfshark Windows app has this easily available as a feature called “Bypasser”, so I guess I was hoping for something easy.
Usually @trendy is able to assist on this
Theoretically you can match with uid or gid of the torrent and make a rule to lookup in the proper routing table which is using the VPN.
Thank you very much for this. A quick look indicates that this is way out of my depth, but I’ll give it some effort. Thanks for the referral @Joulinar .
