OrangePi Zero 2W Allwinner H618 will not boot current DietPi new install from SD card

For the past six months I have not been able to boot DietPi new installs from the current images on DietPi.com. If I remove the SD card the boards boot into micro-Linux on the SPI. If I insert an OrangePi OS (Arch/XFCE) imaged SD card they boot just fine. Reproducible on three known working OPiZ2W boards. I like DietPi’s TUI install system to make the perfect server configuration and I don’t want to strip down the Arch/XFCE to make servers. What happened to DietPi? Unfortunately I do not have an old version of the DietPi install image that worked beautifully.

I found a DietPi OrangePi Zero 3 bullseye image I had downloaded on May 18, 2024 and it booted the OPi Z2W. The Z3 and Z2W use the same Allwinner H618. It is currently updating after the first boot. Fingers crossed.

Same here, with R5S. Did you ever enforce to change the boot order in uboot? What is a working image I could try?
