Option for Wayland/Labwc Stack on RPi?

Raspberry Pi OS just switched over to a complete Wayland stack, citing performance, energy usage, & security.

Apps that rely on X will use XWayland, but RPi OS will no longer support Xorg, which means the community of support is likely to switch over as well.

While most Desktops don’t yet support Wayland, support is coming for a few - such as XFCE.

Given that, are their plans to offer a Wayland stack option in DietPi?

For reference (as I could not put more than 2 links in my posts):

This is just 2-3 days old. And no, we did not discussed this yet.

I think this should be considered to enable. It is a basic important OS graphics feature. Wayland is default these days for most desktop environments. Lxqt with wayland and labwc compositor would benefit from this streamlined configuration. I think many dietpi users may use graphical environments and benefit from dietpi’s setup optimizations that Raspberry Pi OS currently doesn’t provide.

I managed to set up a bare-bones lxqt/wayland/labwc with help from gemini and GitHub - labwc/labwc: A Wayland window-stacking compositor . There are nice window managers and menus.

raspi-config utility enables wayland and labwc compositor in Advanced options but I don’t know if this utility may conflict with dietpi-tools or be migrated. Probably the best place to enable would be on dietpi-tools display settings.

On the other hand IMHO Xorg should be deprecated and save a lot of packages for a desktop install.
