Odroid C2 compatibility with i2s DAC

Hi guys,

Would anyone be able to comment if the Odroid is compatible with other i2s DACs made for the Pi, such as the IQAudio DAC+, Allo Piano or even the Kali reclocker?

Does the Diet Pi distro for Odroid support these DACs?

TIA!

I too would be interested in knowing the answer to this question, I’m in the market for another SoC and I’m very interested in the Odroid C2.
Thanks,
Rick

Hi,

Drivers/modules would be required for each DAC added to another device. You’d need to add these drivers to the kernel at source code level, compile kernel and test. In short, its a endless nightmare

Does the Diet Pi distro for Odroid support these DACs?

Unfortunately, we cant aim to support various DACs on other devices. Its far too time consuming and not guaranteed results (eg: 3.x kernel on Odroid may require source code change on the driver itself to function).

Sorry guys, would love to say “yes”, but unless the SBC manufacture adds support for those DAC’s in their official kernel (unlikely, due to time and fact they offer their own DAC’s), or, a kernel patch is created that we can use, its not possible for us at this time.

On a personal note, the Odroid C2 and HiFi Shield 2 is a great combination. Well worth it and can compete with even the hi-end DAC’s on RPi

Thanks for the reply, I can appreciate how difficult it could be to support cross platform devices. Good to hear about the quality of the c2 with Hifishield 2. I read on the Volumio site that it has the Mclk - I’m assuming that is a master clock, so it’s not using the clock from the C2. I’m just new to this, so trying to understand the technical aspects. I’m comparing it to the Allo product line on RPi3, but like the feature set of the Odroid C2 over the RPi3. Also, the given that I’d be running your great DietPi with Roon on whichever device I settled on.
Thanks,
Rick
