I have a Raspberry Pi 4 with a Hifiberry Digi2 Pro for SPDIF output. Previously, I was using Volumio on this unit with AirPlay with no issues: I’d AirPlay stream to the Pi, it would output SPDIF coax to my DAC which would pass sound on to my amp.

However, I was recently turned on to HQPlayer. HQPlayer does not support AirPlay, but it does support NAA. Volumio does not support NAA, but DietPi does.

So I put DietPi on an SD card and booted it on the Pi. I added the NAA Daemon and ShairePoint Sync (so I could try AirPlay as well). I set the audio device to hifiberry-digi-pro. On my Mac, I open up HQPlayer and set the output to NetworkAudioAdaptor and the device to the DietPi. I set my DAC to receive Coax input and connect the Pi to the DAC. However, when I play audio, there is no sound. I can also see the DietPi as an AirPlay option. I can select it to send audio to, however again, there is no sound. If I put the Volumio card back in the Pi and reboot, however, I’m able to AirPlay to the device and get sound without any issue.

As far as I can tell I’ve done everything correctly and everything seems to be working except that no sound is actually coming out.

I’ve included a screenshot of my DietPi audio configuration. (I tried to include more screenshots, but new users can only include one media item.) Please let me know if you need anything else to resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Eric
