I am setting up a raspberry pi to serve a gateway/firewall and file server.
I will have 2 cell modules connected with USB, Pi will load balance these connections and share out the ethernet port.
I like DietPi until I saw LAN speed benchmark.
Can anyone tell me if DietPi will be a good choice for me?
Can anyone share a lan speed test with this OS?

Which Raspberry Pi model are you considering? All except 4 are using shared bus for USB and Ethernet.
I am using RPi4 for internet router with a LTE USB dongle, but I have installed OpenWrt. DietPi’s good for the server capabilities it offers. Sure you can convert it into a router but you’ll have to install all the necessary packages and configure them yourself.

Well DietPi is not an own Operating System or Distribution. DietPi is a bundle of scripts on top of a standard Debian installation. Nothing more. In case of RPi base image is Raspbian Lite. Means the whole software installation & update process is done the same way as on all other Debian distribution. Basically you could turn a normal Dieban into a DietPi by just running 1 script.
yes, I was hoping to get a lightweight distro running and configure each portion. I mean, if I cant find anyone that can help, guess I will go the OpenWRT route and maybe get a second one to setup with Ubuntu Server.
Wanted to try new things, will see how community is.

I am running the initial install software. It is running at close to an hour and still running through scripts. I am remoted in with Putty, was hopping to get to test today but seems things are turtle slow. 
shooting my hopes down for using DietPi. Any suggestions why its so slow?
Usually it is not that slow and the initial setup should run quite fast depending on CPU, SD card speed and internet connection.
Probably you can open a 2nd SSH session to check what is running and if you have any bottlenecks.

**Edited: Tried an other sd card that I know is true class 10 and install was less than 10 minutes. Sending this other card back. bench tested and it was 2-4MB/s on NTFS.
Yes a slow SD Card could be annoying 
Yep…I would bet the SD card is not a good Class I or faster SD card…I always bought those cheapy ones and they ALWAYS sucked…until I got the good SanDisk Ultra Plus with the A1 on it did the response even get close to being “acceptable” and always go with the 16GB or larger ones, 8GB is ok, but for wear leveling never fill a SD card above 80% or it could cause issues
