Need help with adding folder to dietpi backup

Hello,

how can I backup this folder /home/dietpi/vpn including all files inside ?

I added

+ /home/dietpi/vpn/*

to the backup filter but the folder and the files are not there in my backup…

Any help appreciated :slight_smile:

Usually this is not needed as we do full system backups, which include the home directories as well

Hmm they are included within my system backup.

all these files/folders are part of the standard backup and there should be no need to add them in addition. As stated above, by default we do full system backups. The only thing excluded are external drives mounted to /mnt

But as I restored it the folders under /home/dietpi whre not restored :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

first we need to ensure that all data are part of the backup. What you can do, remove your added backup rules and create a new backup (new target location) to force a full new backup. Afterwards check if all was included.

in this case, they should be part of restore as well. There is just one exception, if they match in size, location and time stamp.

Mhhm it was a new install…so no older folder was existing…

But was not restored…

Actually, I’m confused. Maybe you can describe exactly what are you doing. Which data you are going to copy from A to B

  2. Installed the dietpi completly new because I changed the SD card
