NanoPi R5C video performance expectations

Hi everyone

Did anyone manage to get hardware acceleration up and running on his nanopi r5c board, of course without using the manufacturers android image

I was planning to use this SBC to run several services like wireguard, adguard home etc and also directly plug it into the TV to use with Kodi. If I can’t get hardware acceleration working I could also use it with Jellyfin, so not the end of the world.

Also, can someone point me in the direction of how these things are generally done? I am a software engineer and have linux experience, so there is something I can build up on.

By how can this can generally be done I mean how can I look for the graphics drivers and implement them. Online I only found very specific instructions for specific hardware.

Hey, were you able to find something on this?

No…
I completely gave up with video acceleration dreams on chinese SoC’s.
I should have gotten a raspberry pi or something if I wanted the best of both worlds

Yes I have but it isn’t really good. Docker works

Currently the best HW supported current images are the official Friendlyelec 6.1 Kernel based ones. But there’s also mainline support (as far as I know without HW accel) Images for that can be build with GitHub - pyavitz/debian-image-builder: Debian image builder for single board computers
