Steps to reproduce

  1. Install MotionEye (136) and open http://localip:8765/
  2. “Add camera” and add the network camera with rtsp url.
  3. rtsp://nick:pass@ip:554/stream1

Expected behaviour

  • Opening Webcam / Stream of live camera

Actual behaviour

  • Gray Picture with “Unable to open video source”

Extra details

  • Tapo TC70 camera (already connected in network with the app)
  • rtsp url working on VLC media player with live camera
  • Already used TCP and UDP (lower resolution as 1080p) and also used /stream2 for lower quality, all not working with MotionEye
  • All packages up to date

Probably better to get in touch with MotionEye project directly GitHub - motioneye-project/motioneye: A web frontend for the motion daemon.

It’s working now. I just changed the password in the tapo app from the RTSP user (it’s not allowed to use the same password I think as the main account) / deleted the MotionEye camera and added again, now I can see the camera.
