. C2 will have to wait, cant afford it at the moment.

Without a doubt. The C1 even beats the RPi v3 in terms of performance.
The main issue with all RPi’s is the USB2 bus. Network goes through it and you can sense the whole system is competing for USB2 bandwidth. Not to mention the added USB2 latency. The RPi v3 is still limited to 17.5mb/s read/write to the SD card.
Even today the C1 feels like a rocket when compared to RPi v3.
I must admit, the RPi v3 core_freq of 400mhz has made a huge difference, when compared to the RPi v2 (250mhz). But its still years behind the Odroid C1, let alone the C2.

I was considering an RPi3, but I think I’ll hold off. I’m beginning to think that the only thing the Pi has going for it is its legacy… Unfortunately, I believe THAT is also what’s holding it back from advancement.

Your spot on. The RPi development seems to be stuck in the past, possibly due to a Broadcom contract commitment. Either way, they are relying on its popularity at the moment. I hope people can see this and help Odroid get more noticed, their boards are years ahead.
I’ve ordered my Odroid C2, should be here in a few days. If the C1 (my fav board of all time) is anything to go by, this will be the flagship allround SBC on the market. Maybe RPi will take notice and step up their development.

Hehe, yep i know the feeling. Although by the time it arrives, I really cant see it being any better than the RPi 3.
Either way, always nice to get a new board (misses calls them ‘toys’ lol)

I ordered the 2GB version + the WiFi module, so it ends up being about $40…
At that point, its advantages over the Pi3 are:
2GB vs. 1GB of RAM
less proprietary CPU
Gigabit ethernet
4K HDMI
Euler Bus
LiPO battery port
Ability to run Android
Most of which, I’ll never use… the 2GB of RAM and Gigabit ethernet are worth the $5, though, so I doubt I’ll be disappointed to have it… it was a good option at the time, given the Feb. promise date and the lack of Pi3 knowledge.
HIndsight being 20/20, though… Pi3 vs C2 vs Pine64… I’m pretty sure that I’d take the Odroid-C2 every time.
Lol. Most of mine are used for DietPi testing. I only have the XU4 in use fulltime as a PiHole and backup server.

I tried to order the upgraded version, but the delay was another few months i think. Couldn’t wait that long lol
The Gigabit network will come in handy for server/NAS usage.

Yep, the Odroid C2 is in a class of its own. Quite possibly the best (performance/features/technology) all round SBC at the moment. Its my favourite.
Kind of feels like RPi, Pine and everyone else is playing catchup, a few years behind Odroid.
