Hi. I have a raspi 1B+ (armv6l) running 9.6.1
Just finally decided to upgrade to a raspi 4 B
Can I just move the SD card from the raspi 1 to the raspi 4 or do I need to do some other steps ?
I’m currently running PiHole, and SMB share, Transmission daemon and a VPN server from the raspi so it would be ideal to retain all the config files
Nope, that won’t work.
Make a backup of the configuration files and move them over to the new installation of RPi4.
Yeah guessed so, thank you very much for the answer.
Is there any way to use the dietpi-backup utility to do so ?
Hmm it might gonna work. I would give it a try at least.
And no, DietPi own backup feature will not work as it is doing a full system backup. Anyway Pihole is easy to migrate. Depending on VPN solution it might be also not that complicated. Same with Samba.
Ok, Thanks!
I will definitely give it a try (backing up all things before)
About the migration I guess I was trying to be a bit lazy, PiVPN especially was a bit of a hassle last time I tried to migrate it but hope it got better since than
Again thanks for the answer!
Just wanted to update. Moving the SD card worked just fine!
I updated the whole system and it’s working like a charm
