Migrating to a Raspberry Pi with more memory?

Hi everybody,

Now that the shortage seems to be finally over, I’m planning to upgrade either to a Raspberry Pi 4 with 4 or 8GB. I’m currently using a 4 with only 2GB of memory. Alternatively, I may get a Raspberry Pi 5.

Can I simply put the SD-card with my current dietpi installation in the new one or do I have to set it up from scratch?

Have a nice weekend!

at least just replacing the 4 2GB with a 4 8GB should not be an issue. For the RPI5, we would need to test as soon as we have some samples. Right now, we simply don’t know.

Upgrading to a larger RAM system as long as it’s the same RPi4B platform 2Gig to 4Gig to 8 Gig will be a non issue (it’s like just slapping more RAM into a regular computer…nothing changed just MORE RAM  )…going from a RPi4B to a 5…problem as the processor and peripherals are different
