logitechmediaserver service inactive

I have been using logitechmediaserver for some years without a problem. I recently updated to 7.4 and then to 7.5.2. After the upgrade it seems that logitechmediaserver does not start automatically anymore. Even if I try to start it manually, it still shows as inactive service. Is there a way to resolve this?

hi,

could you share following pls

journalctl -u logitechmediaserver
systemctl status logitechmediaserver
dietpi@DietPi:~ $ sudo journalctl -u logitechmediaserver

looks like the error.log file is missing and your system is not able to create it

Can't open /var/log/squeezeboxserver/error.log (No such file or directory)

You could try following to fix it

mkdir /var/log/squeezeboxserver
chown squeezeboxserver:nogroup /var/log/squeezeboxserver
systemctl start logitechmediaserver.service

check the status. Service should be active (running) now

systemctl status logitechmediaserver.service

Do a reboot to verify all working fine.

Brilliant! It worked. Thanks for your help.

Hi, @Joulinar
I just installed Dietpi on my RPi4 (RAM 1Gb) and I can’t start LMS either. In dietpi-servisec i see LMS has be status “inactive”. I am an inexperienced Linux user, tell me, is there a simple solution to this problem? Here is my log:
