Koel - Library empty

I’ve just installed Koel, interface is looking very nice, but I don’t see any files. I’ve scanned my directory, it took a while, but nevertheless after it finished still nothing can be seen. What can cause this? Where can I find the Koel logs?

I will uninstall it, if I can’t find a fix for it. I saw many other software got installed with it. Which software was installed with Koel?
To get a clean system I would like to uninstall everything else which came with Koel.

I have no clue how to continue with this. I will uninstall it.

Can someone please tell me, what other packages where installed with this?
I want to go back to a clean state of the system without any unnecessary packages for the non working Koel.

Thanks

I have the same issue and found no resolution. Would be nice to figure out the problem.

Hi,

If you used the DietPi Software Catalog to install Koel, you can uninstall it same way. Just run “dietpi-software” and select “Uninstall”. Usually your software should be shown there.

It’s not uninstalling it that is the problem. The problem is that it is not displaying my media files. Empty, nothing found, even though I put in the correct path.

Yes, I know, I am just using DietPi with Docker and containers, Webmin and SambaShare and I want my DietPi system back clean without any needed software. As Koel is just a shiny looking piece of web app without any function I want to deinstall it, with every package that was installed with it. But I can’t see/remember which other software parts where installed with it. I think node.js, MariaDB, … what else? As I remember Koel installed a lot.
Not only for Koel, it would be good to see on the “how do I use this software” pages, to see for every software the dependencies.
If trying out many Dietpi software apps, you could end up having a cluttered system with software parts, which you don’t need anymore.

If you are using DietPi Software, it should remove unused software during uninstall.

I gave up on this, should be removed from the DietPi software list, as non functional.
You could try out Emby, which I am using now or AirSonic, I am running both via Docker, but they are also available in DietPi software. AirSonic looks a bit outdated from the Web Interface, but it works and it’s fast.
Please let me know, if you try out O!MPD, if this works for you. From the pictures/demo on their website it looks quite good.

I’ve uninstalled Koel, but no other unused software was uninstalled with it.
How should DietPi know, if I might use the MariaDB database for something else than Koel. That’s why it would be nice to know, which software has which dependencies. So you can uninstall/decide by yourself, which software is still needed and which not.

Agree, Koel should be removed from Dietpi. The interface looks pretty good. I’ve tried Emby, it’s okay. I’m sticking with Plex.

Maybe some enhancements are coming with the next release

I have uninstalled some DietPI software, but still not sure, if these can be safely removed:

  • Build-Essentials: common packages for compile
  • PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor for dynamic web content
  • Python Pip: python pip package installer

Were these installed with Koel?
Or do I need them also for Docker and Webmin (<- no other software is used).
