Keyboard seems to be not detected right after installation RPI CM4

I have searched the existing open and closed issues

Required Information

  • DietPi version | v9.4.2
  • Distro version | recent Bookworm image downloaded from the dietpi homepage 3 weeks ago. can’t cat the concrete version
  • Kernel version | …
  • Architecture | ARMv8
  • SBC model | Raspberry PI Compute 4 mounted on a CM IO board
  • Power supply used | Power supply set to 12V
  • SD card used | no SD card, image installation via rpibootsetup script and serial interface

  • Can this issue be replicated on a fresh installation of DietPi?

Steps to reproduce

Installation of the image with Praspberry PI Imager. Right after reboot try to login directly via keyboard and display in the console. No ssh.

Expected behaviour

After pressing Enter I should see the characters for the username I’m typing into the keyboard.

Actual behaviour

Hitting enter has no effect on the console screen. I don’t see any characters at all.

Yes, it’s exactly the way you described it with the screenshots.

I tried another keyboard and another SUB port. Still the same.

Bother keyboards work on my laptop.

Can you login via SSH or do you have an UART adapter, to have a look into dmesg output? Otherwise it will be hard to track this down further.

I’m managed to get one and will check via serial.

Meanwhile I’ve installed Raspberry Pi OS lite. Worked fine. Could log in etc. So it shouldn’t be hardware/power issue.

Same here. SSH/Serial works but Keyboard directly plug into expansion board(tried many kind of, besides Official CM4 IO Boards) NOT working. PiOS is alright.

Is brcm-pcie driver caused this problem?

according to Several warnings on boot those “supply not found” warnings should be ok

i think the " brcm-pcie fd500000.pcie: link down" means there is nothing connected to the PCI controller. In case you haven’t aimed to connect something via PCI this should be also fine i assume. Especially, since the PCI and USB host controller are fully independent on the CM4 (in comparison to the RPI 4 Model B, see section 2.3. in the CM4 datashet).
