Hello, in the past when I’ve installed dietpi, I’ve had to install XanMod kernel to get the latest drivers for my new CPU (Intel Core Ultra 7 165H) specifically the kernel display drivers would never work therefore I could not use Intel quick sync with plex. With the release of kernel 6.12 when are the x86_64 images going to move to kernel 6.12?
Use use the kernel provided by Debian repository. Therefore question is more to Debian guys when they gonne do this. Usually updates should be available via apt
. 6.12 might become available on sid repositoey only.
How do I tell dietpi to use another kernel? And is it better to just wait until Debian/DietPi updates sometime next year and just continue to use XanMod kernel?
we don’t maintain the kernel on x86 systems, it will become available as soon as Debian is going to release it. I doubt it will be available on Bookworm. Maybe on upcoming Debian version Trixie
This has nothing to do with DietPi. It should be the same as on all other Debian-based systems. Kernel 6.12 is only available in the sid repository. This would mean it’s on bleeding edge Debian -- Package Search Results -- linux-image-amd64
You could wait until 6.12 become available on Backports https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/1eaakzy/upgrade_debian_12_from_kernel_61_to_any_kernel_62/?rdt=35695
