When reinstalling a system, is there no way to make that the disk name of the external media be retained, for e.g. the network connections of the disks?
Honestly I don’t understand your request. Maybe you can give more details and some examples.
As an example, I had a problem with an sd card and I had to reinstall the system from scratch on a new sd card, then the names of my other disks are gone when I go to dietpi-diskmanager and I have to enter new names of all the external mediums linked to it, if I then restore from a disk with a new name becourse i lost the old namings, doesn`t that make problems with also the other devices connected and got other names, ore is the best to do to make a list of what are all the namings of the external devices to not get in trouble. like for the network connection of the disks and so on.
What you are talking about is the mount point. This is your individual directory where you have mounted the external drive on. It is not a name if the disk.
These mount option information are stored within /etc/fstab
. Usually external drives are identified by their ID, which is not changing.
Ok i get it, thx.
