I downloaded the Radaxa Cubie image, built the driver and installed the module and other files. Its my hope that this install script will do the heavy lifting. Chromium now launches in about 2-3 seconds, video plays smooth, and I am noticing a lot better heat management when idling in wayland/xorg – it still gets hot, but not as fast.
This install assumes dietpi, the might work on other systems. you will need “radxa-cubie-a7z_bullseye_kde_t7.output_512.img.xz” image to get the required files to build the module, but the scripts “should” in theory, help do it automatically.
note: below it will say “Img gpu [Integrated]” instead of llmvpipe

If the driver sources have no restrictive license, we could just inline them in our Armbian fork.
Then there is the firmware blobs, which are most likely required by the driver.
Your script does not seem to include an X11/DDX replacement or shared libraries into /usr/lib, so the ones it does include are used by powervr-run only?
I have not tested this yet, because of RL. However I have noticed that powervr-run is required to run vulkaninfo. ill see if i can go back to my image and map more libraries and see if I can get a little further. Thanks.
I didn’t want to imply that anything more is needed, but rather wanted to check back whether e.g. better X11 performance, resp. lower idle head emission, is also true without a special X11/DDX build.
Basically, if Mesa and other libraries can benefit with/make use of the kernel driver already, that would be best, as this is less problematic to implement. But library blobs without sources which conflict with/override the ones from Debian is always a source of trouble.
