How to install services/software not in DietPi-Software List?

I want to install services like miniflux or calibre. They are not on the DietPi optimized software list. Does that mean I can’t install and self host these using DietPi on my RPi 4B and have to use another distro?

Or can I just install the Docker version of the service I want after installing Docker / Docker Compose / Portainer on DietPi? Is there any disadvantage of installing services this way instead of directly via the ‘optimized software list’?

Sorry if this is obvious, but I’m new to self-hosting, RPis and DietPi in general. Thanks a lot!

You can install any software on DietPi. There are no restrictions. You can install Docker containers or bare metal versions. It is entirely up to you.

Our software list is just an offer to users to use our automation process to install software applications quickly.
