How can I get USB Tethering working

I’m trying to use my phone with USB tethering for DietPi. I have ethernet available but i have to bring the Pi outside so if it needs some software i can download it.

ip a shows the phone as eth1 (which dissapears if you unplug the phone, so that’s it), but no IP.

Im currently on a Pi v1.2 B+, so there’s no WiFi preinstalled, and I also don’t have a USB WiFi adapter. Also the keyboard I’m using does not have a | key so I can’t enter that :frowning:

Also, I tried ssh and yes, I used the same network (connected to PC wirelessly, connected to Pi via ethernet), but it times out even with the correct IP.

I don’t have a direct answer on your question and I never tried it, but maybe you would need to active USB Gadget Mode
