HA has made the decision to deprecate Core Home Assistant installations in a Python envelope or otherwise. Any ideas how to handle this in DietPi. How are people planning on moving to the new Container setup? Will this option be supported? The announcement was just made and I am trying to get ahead of the Dec 2025 deadline.
Probably not fully correct, see comment from our developer Home Assistant Deprecating Core and Supervised installation methods, and 32-bit systems · Issue #7544 · MichaIng/DietPi · GitHub
They phrased it in such a confusing way, as if they wanted people to think Hass Core will stop updating itself.
Also, since the Open Home Foundation took over HACS, there were no updates to it. Almost like they want it to become deprecated.
Hate to say it but it seems that hass is becoming enshittified…
I already migrated one and a half years ago to the docker solution. Easier (and faster) to update, and I did not notice any drop in performance
Even if the installation method can remain in the dietpi-software, since it is still valid, maybe trying to inform users that the Core installation method is deprecated can be useful
This is not fully correct. See the GitHub link I shared above, there our developer explained it a bit.
