I have Unraid as a server and shared folders on it downloads and for media. I have Dietpi installed on RPi5 with Portainer and arr applications. I mapped Unraid folders (SMB) on DietPi and it all works fine. However, Hardlinks do not work for me, for example when I download a movie via Radarr I have it in both folfer, download and movies folder. I know that’s normal, but when I type ls -al, there’s a “1” next to the file, but it should be “2”.
When I do all that on Unraid, hardlinks work. I hope you understand me.
You mean you download stuff on the DietPi system to the SMB share of the Unraid server? Hardlinks are generally supported only within the same filesystem and on supported filesystem types. CIFS mounts surely do not support it.
That’s right, the files are physically located on Unraid, and I shared those folders on DietPi. Arr apps are on DietPi. Is it worth trying with NFS?
yes might be better open
Indeed this article about a related attack indicates that NFS supports hardlinks if the filesystem on the server does: Abusing Hardlinks Via NFS | pentestmonkey
