Flashing SD Card from DietPI on USB

Hi,

I have a Raspberry PI 3 B+
It runs Raspbian (I think) from an SD Card.

I want to reinstall it with DietPI. The problem is that the PI is the only computer with an SD card slot that I have access to.

I also have a windows notebook and a USB stick. I’ve installed the DietPI onto the stick without problems. But I can’t use it to run the OS from as I need it for other things.

What are my options? How to get DietPI onto the SC card with these tools?

Obvious solution seems to be to dd the image onto the SD card while booted from USB. But - if I pull the card out and insert it after boot, it doesn’t show up.
If I put the SD card in first, it always boots from it and it seems I can’t change the boot order.

Ah, nevermind.

The SD Card not mounting was something from DietPI itself: SD card slot not usable when booting from USB?

After fixing that, installing DietPI onto the card was easy.

This is a feature we explicitly added in past to reduce CPU load on usb only systems.
