Expanding my userdata storage drive

So my current system is just a raspberry pi 4 and 2.5TB of storage across 3 SSDs. It works, but the storage is running out and I need some more horsepower so I’m investing in some used parts to build a chunkier x86 system with a bunch of spinning disk storage. I’ve got offsite backups too, purely for the nextcloud instance I manage.

How do people here manage expanding stuff like their dietpi_userdata drive? Do people here do fancy stuff like zfs pools or RAID setups or do you just rely on dietpi-drive_manager?

I really like the idea of the redundancy with a RAID 1/5 setup but unless I use something like Proxmox there’s a lot of work in setting up/maintaining them from the looks.

We have a series of blog posts on the subject of Raid
