DietPi v6.32.2 update failing

Hi,
I’ve tried updating my DietPi distro to the lastest rev, but it fails with the following message:

–2020-12-08 01:12:42-- (try:16) http://3.230.113.73:9011/Allocom/USBridgeSig/rpi-usbs-5.4.79-v8+/ax88179_178a.ko
Connecting to 3.230.113.73:9011… connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response… Read error (Connection timed out) in headers.
Retrying.

I can download this directly on my pc using chrome, but not on the Pi.
I’ve tested connectivity, with success.

I did an upgrade earlier in the week, and it failed like the above, so i rebooted, and it wouldn’t boot, so i rebuilt with a fresh install of dietpi, and getting the same message. FYI, i use the ethernet port for internet access.

Has anyone else come across this, and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Liam.

Hi,

many thanks for your message. Did you tried to download the file directly on your DietPi

cd /tmp
wget http://3.230.113.73:9011/Allocom/USBridgeSig/rpi-usbs-5.4.79-v8+/ax88179_178a.ko

I did but it times out:

root@DietPi:~# wget http://3.230.113.73:9011/Allocom/USBridgeSig/rpi-usbs-5.4.79-v8+/ax88179_178a.ko

Interestingly, I moved away from wired and tried updating over wireless and it worked. (I’m now on 6.33.3, was on 6.32.2)
Also the wget works:

root@DietPi:~# wget > http://3.230.113.73:9011/Allocom/USBridgeSig/rpi-usbs-5.4.79-v8+/ax88179_178a.ko

Just tested the wget over ethernet only, and it’s back to timing out. very strange.

root@DietPi:~# wget > http://3.230.113.73:9011/Allocom/USBridgeSig/rpi-usbs-5.4.79-v8+/ax88179_178a.ko

and it sits there waiting.
hmmm.

With thanks,
Liamo

do you use different network components to connect? Like some firewall or other devices in between? Can you connect your DietPi directly to your router?

Both wifi and ethernet are in the same subnet, with same route to the internet.
It’s strange.

Maybe you can try to change cable and/or ports
