Just went through and updated all my dietpi installs and on update, each one of them made an outbound ssh connection to ssh.dietpi.com. What’s this used for and will I break my installs if I block it?
That should be the dietpi-survey. When you activate the survey, current data is uploaded. When the survey is deactivated, it is ensured that no user data is stored on DietPi server side, and an empty file is transferred.
Bug reports are also uploaded to this host. But as long as you do not need this, you can block it. dietpi-software and dietpi-update will show a failure near the last output line, but that can be ignored, i.e. it has no effect on OS functionality aside of dietpi-survey
