Where are these updates coming from? It seems like github is checked for dietpi specific updates and the rest is a normal apt update to debian repos. If I have pihole installed from the dietpi-software “center” Is that something that devs grab after a new release and repackage and tune for dietpi or is it the same pihole as you would get from a pihole -up. Is pihole even something that would show up in a dietpi-update?
we maintain our DietPi script via dietpi-update. And we trigger an apt upgrade before updating our own scripts. However we don’t trigger or update individual software titles as this would need to be done by the administrator following the respective software update guide. In case of Pihole it will be regular Pihole update. Because it’s just the very same Pihole software. Means using pihole -up would be correct way. For most software title we have an information on how to update within our online docs.
