I have heard in some blogs that the current version of dietpi would not be compatible with the new raspberry pi5. Do you guys have any news about this’
Thanks
Where do you have seen this? We don’t have any developer samples and I’m not aware on anyone who already tested this. A link or reference would be appreciated.
I listened to this video by blogger Morrolinux.
He claims that given the new hardware specifications of the pi5 the current version of dietpi cannot work properly unless the developers bring out a new version. Only problem the video is in Italian, but you could try contacting him.
As stated above, non of us has a RPi5 at hand actually. Means we are not able to test or investigate. However, as long as Debian or Raspbian are able to run, DietPi will do as well. Because DietPi is not an own OS, it’s a set of bash script on top of bootstrap Debian. In addition we use the original Raspberry OS kernel.
I have ordered the rpi5. as soon as possible I will do a test installation with dietpi and let you know if it works or there are problems. I hope not. Perhaps some problems might arise from the different hardware structure compared to previous versions of rpi.
